Mater Pharmacy is looking for a Clinical Trials Pharmacist Manager to join the team! This is permanent full-time role, working 76 hours per fortnight, with the potential for flexible hours to be considered. It will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

Mater Health Services, Southeast Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals caring for over 500,000 patients each year. Mater Pharmacy services all inpatient areas, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.

Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

This role will liaise and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team whilst also requiring independent planning and project management work. 

  • Operationally and professionally manage performance and co-ordinate a team of senior pharmacists and support staff, encouraging accountability and responsibility to ensure a consistent high standard of clinical trial pharmacy services is offered to all clients, stakeholders, and clinical trial participants.
  • Foster a team environment, and actively develop the performance of the clinical trial services team, including but not limited to competency assessments, giving feedback, leading team meetings, providing clinical trial education.
  • Liaise professionally and proactively with local and international sponsors of clinical trials, and Mater Health employees whose work units and teams use the services of the Mater Pharmacy Clinical Trial Unit (MPCTU) across Qld.
  • Ensure adherence to the National Clinical Trial Governance Framework as the minimum service standards against which health services with a clinical trial service is assessed for accreditation within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
  • Contribute to team roster development and allocation of staff resources to meet performance and budget expectations and business needs in conjunction with the Assistant Director Pharmacy (Practice and Development).
  • Maintain financial service viability through stewardship of the invoicing and recouping of funds to the MPCTU cost centre.
  • Advise senior management and other relevant stakeholders regarding service delivery. 

About you

To be successful in the role, you will meet the below criteria:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and be eligible for registration as a pharmacist (AHPRA) 
  • Currency in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
  • Post graduate qualifications (e.g. Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Masters, PhD) and/or completion of the Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) specialty training courses highly desirable.
  • ANZCAP recognition at registrar or consultant level in a relevant speciality area
  • Have a minimum of three years post graduate experience as a clinical pharmacist. 
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and motivation to develop expertise in the specialised field of clinical trial pharmacy practice, in addition to skilled application of legislative requirements and policies relevant to medication management in clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated Leadership experience or management of a team.
  • Experience in the management of a pharmacy clinical trial unit.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical trial pharmacy services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods require some expansion, adaptation or modification
  • Demonstrated ability to provide general and specialised advice to professional and operational supervisors regarding clinical trial service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate local service improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated skill and willingness to provide clinical supervision and coaching to less experienced staff and students, and ability to provide educational sessions across disciplines.
  • Demonstrated time management, financial spreadsheet and database skills are essential
