About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join the Central and North Queensland Capital Works Team. This full-time position is based in Townsville, on a 2-year contract.

Reporting to the Central and North Queensland Projects Director, you’ll have the unique opportunity to gain valuable insight and experience in the healthcare sector. Possessing healthcare experience is highly regarded within the industry. As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating capital works projects at Mater Group. Leading, developing, and mentoring a team within the Capital Works Department, your role will ensure that projects align with Mater's strategy and adhere to project principles of time, cost, quality, risk, form, and function.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Capital Works oversees a range of health asset and infrastructure projects across multiple Queensland Hospital campuses, including Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, and Bundaberg. Within this role your key accountabilities will include:

  • Take charge of planning and delivering major projects
  • Responsible for the effective delivery of management services to achieve the completion of projects within quality, time and budget parameters
  • Act as the Mater representative throughout each phase of the project
  • Provide leadership, management and mentoring to the project team
  • Efficiently process the progress claims and variations in collaboration with the Project Director to meet contractual and statutory obligations
  • Liaise with and monitor the work of design consultants to ensure compliance with Mater Design Guidelines and procedures
  • Offer constructive and informative technical advice to clients, consultants and contractors
  • Maintain a clear and constructive dialogue with clients/users, keeping them fully informed about the project scope, program and budget
  • Plan, develop and execute the complete project plan, covering project integration, human resources, scope, communication, time, risk, cost management, procurement and quality
  • Implement and conduct post-project and post-occupancy reviews

About you

The successful application will have a tertiary qualification in construction management, engineering or project management along with the following:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in managing a portfolio of capital works projects
  • Experience managing multiple healthcare projects in tandem
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholder groups
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • Demonstrated experience in working as a key member of a multi-disciplinary project
  • Advanced report and brief writing skills
  • Demonstrated advanced capability of utilising all project related software and systems including but not limited to Microsoft Suite of programs and Aconex
  • Previous experience with building construction projects (Desirable)
  • Previous experience with operational commissioning (Desirable)
