About the role

Mater Pharmacy is looking for a Senior Pharmacist – Clinical Educator to join the team! This is permanent full-time role. It will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

You will deliver high quality evidenced-based pharmacy clinical education services to all Mater Pharmacy staff within a highly functioning interprofessional team. Contribution to the advancement of quality pharmacy services and optimal patient care, through provision of targeted clinical education programs, service development and quality improvement.

Mater Health Services, Southeast Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals caring for over 500,000 patients each year. Mater Pharmacy services all inpatient areas, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.

Salary range: $64.64 – $69.55 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

These accountabilities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Key role specifications

  • Facilitate and supervise all clinical education activities across Mater Pharmacy sites by liaison and collaboration with local and state-wide clinical education colleagues, key stakeholders and networks.
  • Lead the educational activities and foster an environment of continuous education, learning and skills development for all Mater Pharmacy staff with a focus on undergraduates, pre-registration pharmacists, residents, new to hospital pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Develop, review and continuously improve the programs and training plans across Mater Pharmacy to support the orientation, training, learning and development of all staff.
  • Act as a professional preceptor and line manager for Mater Pharmacy pre-registration pharmacists, providing training and education, monitoring performance and providing feedback in line with competency requirements for AHPRA registration and departmental expectations.
  • Co-ordinate, perform and support competency assessments (e.g. the AdPha ClinCAT® for pharmacists) for all relevant Mater Pharmacy staff.
  • Facilitate and oversee under-graduate pharmacy student placements and Quality Use of Medicines activities and projects.
  • Undertake the duties and responsibilities required of the Program Leader for the AdPha Foundation Residency Program.

About you

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and be eligible for AHPRA registration as a pharmacist in Australia.
  • Minimum of three years post graduate experience as a clinical pharmacist.

Desired

  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Formal education or professional experience in education and training.
  • Training as an evaluator for AdPha ClinCAT assessments.
  • ANZCAP recognition at consultant level.
