About the role

Mater is currently looking for a Senior Administration Offer to join the Language Services team at South Brisbane. This is a permanent part-time position, requiring 26 hours of work per week.

The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of interpreter services to Mater patients who are not proficient in English or who are Deaf. This role is responsible for the coordination of the day to day Interpreting activities within Mater and to provide effective and efficient administration support service to all patients, clinics, hospital staff and interpreters and to be responsible for the maintenance and control of interpreting records. 

Salary range: $38.81 - $43.16 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide telephone service with a strong customer focus to staff and service providers, ensuring effective and courteous communication.
  • Coordinate interpreting jobs using Interpreter Management System (IMS) and monitor bookings and requests in IMS.
  • Coordinate video linkups between clinicians, patients and interpreters.
  • Verify services in IMS with information obtained from the assignment completion sheets.
  • Verify accounts received from service providers for payment.
  • Minimise interpreting charges where possible by combining consecutive jobs and utilising one interpreter.
  • Follow up on internal feedback and complaints and escalate to line Manager if issues remain unresolved.
  • Identify service deficits and provide feedback on recommendations for improvements to Line Manager.

About you

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Previous administration experience within a healthcare environment
  • High level cultural awareness and sensitivity and experience working in this environment
  • Demonstrated integrity with respect to confidentiality of official and customer interests
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify problems and act accordingly
  • Possess strong computer skills with high levels of competency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Possess a professional telephone manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, and to independently establish work priorities, to set realistic goals and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude
