Mater Research are looking for a Research Officer - to provide research support including data management for the conduct of the MRFF funded research project, Alliance for Healthy Ageing! This is a 3-year, full-time position (applicants interested in part-time will be considered), based at Herston.
The Alliance for Healthy Ageing aims to identify and address frailty across primary care settings in Western Qld, to slow the progression of frailty, improve well-being, and provide a cost-effective model of care to promote healthy ageing regionally.

Salary range: $41.47 - $44.69 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will take on a leadership role to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the alliance and work with the broader project team. You will be responsible for the recruitment of GP clinics to the alliance and work to build strong relationships with clinics and primary health care professionals. You will support the project manager to ensure we meet our project milestones and deliverables to our Administering Body, Mater-Research Institute -University of Queensland
Research and Project Support
- Practice recruitment and support
- Assist in the development of milestone reports
- Preparation of research performance reports
- Preparation of project progress reports for funding bodies.
- Provide research co-ordination including monitoring of project timelines
- Maintain a constructive relationship with partner organisations including PHNs and GP practices
- Present updates, overviews and findings internally
- Support senior staff in the CHSRI to undertake quantitative and qualitative research

- Report any potential hazards to the reporting officer
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Standards
- Treat all clients with sensitivity and without discrimination

About you
Qualifications
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field e.g. public health; health professional with relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience of the ethics process and understanding of research governance processes.
- Demonstrated experience in health services research including qualitative & quantitative research evaluation, data analysis and producing reports to reflect findings.
- Demonstrated high level of competence in data base management including design, collection, secure storage, data linkage and management of data as well as MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, including an ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, advise the research team on the progress of the project and maintain attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in project co-ordination, preferably in a healthcare setting, particularly with multiple stakeholder projects across primary, community and acute care settings with ability to prioritise and resolve critical issues efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- Sound data management of research data including maintaining and extracting data from study databases.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans.
- Experience with manuscript and report writing
- Endnote reference management experience
