Mater Health is looking for a Respiratory Physician to join our team. This part-time role (up to 32 hours per fortnight) is based at our South Brisbane campus. Reporting to the Clinical Director of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, you will provide a specialist service in respiratory and sleep medicine, together with the staff of existing department and the general staff of the Mater Hospital.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will provide clinical service at an inpatient and outpatient level to patients referred to the Unit. This encompasses a teaching component, the provision of a specialist opinion to the referring medical practitioner.
- Liaise with medical, nursing and allied health staff in the development of a specialist service with a team approach to the delivery of care. To be actively involved in the development of departmental and hospital policies, quality improvement activities, including clinical audits.
- Participate in a roster for out of hours respiratory and sleep medicine services.
- Active involvement in education at an undergraduate, postgraduate and collegiate level for all disciplines of health care.
- Active participation in, and the fostering of, clinical and/or scientific research in respiratory and sleep medicine.
- Through active participation in clinical and research activities develop and foster links with Mater Research and the various university departments, and other institutions/services.
- Develop and foster links with other departments on the campus in line with the strategic plans of the Mater complex as a whole.
- Contribute to the overall direction and strategic planning of the department and the Mater Hospital.
- Participate in risk management activities.
About you
You will have a current AHPRA registration with no practice restrictions or eligible to gain registration. You will also meet the below criteria:
- FRACP (Australian and New Zealand) or equivalent and be eligible to apply for their Australian registration.
- Fellowships in both Respiratory and Sleep Medicine
- A research higher degree is preferable
- At least four (4) years in respiratory medicine with exposure to multi-disciplinary team approach to complex patient care.
- Appropriate general respiratory training to fulfil the requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians {RACP} for eligibility for FRACP
- Documented experience in flexible and/or rigid bronchoscopy
- Documented experience in sleep machine skills in the performance of polysomnography sleep scoring, and assisted ventilation.
- Experience in managing patients with Cystic Fibrosis
- Postgraduate research in respiratory medicine or physiology would be advantageous.
