About the role
Mater Health Services has a rare and exciting opportunity for a Junior Biomedical Mechanical Technician to join our forward-thinking Engineering and Maintenance team. This permanent full-time position offers not just a job — but a chance to help shape the future of patient care.

Salary range: $37.48 - $52.07 (HP2) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing
• Deliver routine biomedical mechanical services — including acceptance testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance of high-impact medical equipment — under the direction of experienced practitioners
• Develop hands-on technical expertise while contributing to equipment reliability, quality control, and safety in a live hospital environment
• Work cooperatively and effectively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, following established methods and procedures
• Make independent decisions and carry out routine tasks within your scope of responsibility, with increasing autonomy over time
• Support the introduction and implementation of new biomedical technologies and processes
• Participate in ongoing training and development to support your technical growth and career progression

About you
The successful candidate will have:
• A minimum of an Associate Diploma (if graduating prior to 2000), or a Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
• A competent level of knowledge and skill in servicing Biomedical Equipment such as:
 – Vital signs monitors
 – Electrosurgical units
 – Diagnostic ECG machines
 – Medical gas blenders
 – Anaesthetic equipment
 – Medical pendants
• A restricted electrical work license (competencies 1, 3 and 5) issued by the QLD Electrical Workers and Contractors Board – Highly desirable
• Prior experience working with anaesthetic equipment – Desirable
• A demonstrated ability to apply established methods and complete routine tasks, while progressing toward more complex work under supervision
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, under the guidance of senior practitioners
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to model and promote Mater values
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
• The ability to work both independently and in a team, using initiative, sound reasoning, and strong decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• A commitment to consistently delivering high levels of service to patients and staff
