About the role

Mater Audiology Department are looking for an experienced Audiologist to join the team in a Permanent Part-time capacity working 24 hours a week located at South Brisbane.

The Audiology team provides a broad range of diagnostic audiology services including vestibular testing and suitability for cochlear implantation. It is predominantly an adult outpatient service providing specialist services for patients with hearing and/or balance disorders with a large cochlear implant program. This includes a cochlear outpatient and outreach service providing post-operative rehabilitation.  There is a private paediatric service.

As a member of the Audiology Department team, you will provide patient centred, evidence based clinical care in diagnostic and cochlear caseloads.

Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focused outcomes
  • Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision
  • Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of clinical services
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within professional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in translating research into practice
  • Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care
  • Participate in continuing professional development activities to further develop clinical practice and expertise
  • Contribute to the learning and development of the team through clinical education and clinical supervision

About you

  • Possession of a tertiary degree in Audiology from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Eligibility for provisional or full membership with Audiology Australia
  • Eligibility for accreditation as an audiologist in Australia with a recognised practitioner professional body (e.g. Audiology Australia)
  • Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number
  • Deliver diagnostic audiology clinical services across a variety of caseloads with a particular focus on adult diagnostic assessments in an outpatient setting
  • Experience with complex audiological assessments including diagnostic vestibular assessments
  • Experience with pre- cochlear implantation assessment and post implant mapping
  • Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care
  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with profession and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
