About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is inviting applications from motivated and capable clinicians for Medical Registrar positions commencing in 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and high-performing team in one of Queensland’s leading tertiary teaching hospitals.
We are seeking enthusiastic doctors who are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. In this role, you will gain experience across a broad range of inpatient and outpatient medical services. You will be expected to manage patients independently, under appropriate consultant supervision, including during after-hours and night shifts.
The position is primarily based at Mater Hospital Brisbane with the opportunity to rotate through our brand-new facility at Mater Hospital Springfield.
Salary range: commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
We value clinicians who are collaborative, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as you will work closely with patients, fellow doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide integrated, multidisciplinary care.
About Us
Mater Hospital Brisbane is a 300-bed tertiary teaching hospital situated in Brisbane’s vibrant inner south. As part of the broader Mater Group, we are a leader in healthcare, research, and education, with 12 campuses across Queensland.
Our hospital offers exposure to a wide range of medical specialties and subspecialties, along with opportunities to participate in clinical research and teaching. Many of our registrars hold academic titles with The University of Queensland, and our facility is accredited for Basic Physician Training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Our South Brisbane Campus is located close to the South Bank cultural precinct and 'The Gabba' stadium. The hospital offers a lively and accessible working environment in one of Australia’s most liveable cities.
The Springfield campus is going to be a new, start-of-the art hospital in the rapidly expanding Western Brisbane Corridor. Mater Hospital Springfield, set to open from early 2026, will be a contemporary nine-storey facility with an Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Internal Medicine, Paediatric and Maternity services.
About you
To be successful for this role you will have general registration with AHPRA, or eligibility via 12 months of clinical practice in Australia or in a Competent Authority country (e.g., UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand). You will also meet the below criteria:
- Minimum of PGY-3 (or equivalent) at the time of commencement
- Prior experience in hospital-based internal medicine
- Interest in RACP physician training is desirable but not essential
- Full-time availability preferred; however, we are committed to flexible work arrangements
