About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an Operating Theatre Assistant to join our Perioperative team in South Brisbane. The Operating Theatre Assistant is a part of the perioperative team delivering consistent, high-quality care to adult and obstetric patients undergoing surgery.

We are recruiting a permanent full-time position. This position supports our daily operations, and successful candidates need to be available for a 24/7 roster.

Salary range: $34.02 - $35.66 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing

  • Setting up the theatre for surgery with the required equipment
  • Patient positioning and transfers
  • Clean contaminated equipment and other used items as required
  • General housekeeping duties e.g. cleaning beds, organising linen, restocking of equipment, and waste management

About you

Essential criteria

  • Work as an active team member to support all work tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to ongoing service excellence
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work with minimal supervision
  • Available for a 24/7 roster

Desirable criteria

  • Currently hold a Certificate III in Health Care Support (Operating Theatre Practice) or Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
  • Minimum of two years previous experience in an Operating Theatre Assistant role would be highly desirable
