About the role

Mater Private Hospital Redlands is currently seeking applications for Assistants in Nursing to join our team working on our Medical Ward. The successful candidates will secure Permanent Part Time employment working a minimum of 24 hours a week. We require flexibility to work across varying shifts and the ability to work on a rotating roster including every 2nd weekend.

Mater Private Hospital Redland has been supporting Brisbane's Bayside community since 2000 and is Redland Shire's only private hospital facility. Located in the suburb of Cleveland, the 60-bed hospital features 2 operating theatres and a wide range of specialised surgical and medical services, from women’s health and urology through to ophthalmology and orthopaedics.

Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Assistant in Nursing assists and supports the clinical teams in providing safe and quality patient-centered care under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.

  • Gathering information about patient care needs through observation and notification to the senior clinical staff of identified changes in the health and functional status of patients promptly
  • Assist in the provision of care and support of patients within the scope of Assistant in Nursing practice, professional expertise
  • Undertaking observations and assessments
  • Following the direction and delegation of the appropriate senior clinical staff member
  • Assisting with safe mobility, patient hygiene and toileting, appearance and dietary needs, supporting patients with cognitive impairment, escorting patients to investigation procedures;
  • Reporting any concerns and feedback to the Team Leader / RN  to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients

About you

To be considered suitable for the AIN position you will be:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or hold a Certificate III in a relevant qualification
  • Flexibility to perform in various wards, adaptability to seamlessly integrate in to different teams and work under different NUMs
  • Consistent availability to complete shifts at short notice
  • Commitment to excellence in nursing practice and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
  • Prior comparable experience as an Assistant in Nursing or Personal Care Attendant/Assistant (Desirable)
