About the role

Mater is seeking a Data and Reporting Engineer in this newly created position! Join the team in this permanent, full-time role based at Newstead with hybrid 60/40 working options!

You will play a crucial role in working with healthcare activity, cost and funding data sets to develop and maintain high-quality databases. You will design data models for reporting solutions and contribute to the development of Mater's Activity Based Funding and Costings outputs. In addition, you will be responsible for administering and tuning reporting production platforms.

Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Your expertise will be key in creating reports and visualisations that allow key stakeholders to interact with healthcare data effectively. This will help inform decision-making processes and facilitate health service planning and delivery.

  • Develop and maintain database standards for software and reporting
  • Establish data naming conventions and dictionary definitions
  • Create user-friendly MS Power BI dashboards for service insights
  • Implement data quality assurance queries for continuous monitoring
  • Provide database services for production and development environments
  • Develop data models and metrics for BI reports
  • Create reporting products for decision-making and process improvement
  • Analyse and rectify incidents in production applications
  • Enhance database code reviews for accurate reporting
  • Understand Mater data systems for data extraction
  • Standardise data conventions and develop SQL queries
  • Develop visualisations for stakeholders
  • Document technical specifications for SDLC

About you

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Experience in Healthcare sector as an Analytics Developer, Data Analyst, or similar role
  • Experience in designing and creating applications using Microsoft Power BI
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and developing Dashboard applications and reports using SQL and Microsoft reporting solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep understanding of Database Design and Management Systems
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft SQL development and advanced T-SQL
  • Knowledge of data quality and governance principles
  • Understanding of various technologies including networks, operating systems, and server technology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to software issues and system performance management
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with large datasets manipulation
