About the role
The Mater Advocacy and Protection Unit (MAP Unit) is currently seeking applications from highly experienced social workers for this Team Leader position based at our South Brisbane Campus in a permanent full-time capacity.
The Mater Advocacy and Protection Unit (MAP Unit) provides integrated and specialised education, training, advice and clinical consultation to Mater employees statewide who are engaged with consumers experiencing or at-risk of experiencing violence, abuse and neglect across the lifespan. This includes concerns related to Child Protection, Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) including Elder Abuse, and Sexual Assault. The Unit further has a consultancy role in relation to Safeguarding practices and contributes to the development and refinement of safeguarding policies, procedures, and educational materials.
Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Operational leadership to the multidisciplinary staff within the unit including the Child Protection Liaison Officers and DFV workforce,
- Advanced and expert clinical practice, consultation, care coordination and supervision to the MAP Unit team, Mater staff, and external stakeholders responsible for the delivery of Child Protection, DFV, and Sexual Assault services,
- High level strategic advice and authoritative counsel to Mater staff and Leadership regarding current and future service provision across Mater’s public and private facilities statewide in the areas of violence, abuse and neglect.
- The provision of direct clinical advocacy and consultation services to staff, stakeholders and consumers on complex presentations within the Mater health context,
- The development and delivery of a range of multimodal contemporary training and education,
- Monitoring and management of data, policies, procedures and risk processes related to vulnerable populations to ensure compliance in related areas,
- Strategic partnerships and collaborations with consumers, communities and sector partners,
- A research and evaluative framework that ensures continuous improvement and innovative practice.
About you
- Current degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Knowledge and/or work experience in the area of vulnerable and at-risk populations is essential, in particular Child Protection and/or Domestic and Family Violence. Healthcare knowledge and/or experience is desirable but not essential.
- Advanced clinical expertise with specialist knowledge in Child Protection, DFV and Sexual Assault, including assessment of complex psychosocial needs, application of differential assessment methods to identify clinical risk, high level advocacy skills and utilisation of relevant resources, legislation and policy.
- Advanced knowledge of the relevant resources, legislation and policy in relation to Child Protection, DFV and Sexual Assault and their impact on safeguarding within the organisational context.
