Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking a qualified and experienced Psychologist to join our Allied Health team. You have the option to join us either on a Casual basis or as a Permanent Part-Time basis, with a minimum of 15 hours every fortnight.

As part of the Mater Townsville Allied Health Department this role would service both the acute inpatient wards and our rehabilitation programs using a multidisciplinary approach where nursing staff, specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, speech therapists, dietitians, exercise physiologists, psychologists, orthotists/prosthetists and pharmacists work together to ensure the best patient outcomes are achieved.

Mater rehabilitation programs are provided at the Pimlico Campus. Our rehabilitation programs include both overnight and day services.

Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 (HP4) per hour plus 25% Casual Loading and attractive weekend penalty rates plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Key responsibilities and duties include:
  • Deliver evidence-based, group and individual interventions
  • Provide advice and assistance in the development of effective interventions for patients of Mater Townsville Private Hospital
  • Provide ongoing assessment to monitor and review the effectiveness of intervention strategies implemented
  • Liaise with various specialists and attend multidisciplinary meetings
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish a network of referral options and information for patients
  • Ensure other adequate follow up is arranged for our patients ongoing care upon discharge
  • Contribute to the integration and evaluation of strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement and research
  • Act to enhance the professional development of self and others
  • Provision of clinical supervision
  • Ensure delegated portfolio responsibilities are achieved within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure key performance indicators are achieved within agreed timeframes and resources

About you

We are searching for someone who is/has the following.

  • General Registration via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Psychology Board of Australia Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology 
  • Eligibility for accreditation or current Board approved Supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Ability to provide an experienced level of skilled psychological clinical assessment and interventions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team, establish priorities, exercise initiative, and deliver outputs within agreed timeframes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to professional development and quality improvement and /or clinical research
  • Ability to support continuous improvement of local service delivery
  • Broad understanding of the continuum of care and the organisational provision of multidisciplinary health service
