Springfield’s newest state of the art hospital is opening soon – a co-located public and private Level 4 hospital— and we’re assembling a dynamic, collaborative and expert medical team to lead the way in providing outstanding care to our growing community.

Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

We are inviting applications for a wide range of specialist roles across numerous specialties. If you're passionate about clinical excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care, we want to hear from you. 

We are currently seeking applications for the following Senior Medical Officers: 

  • Emergency Medicine
  • Intensive Care
  • Paediatrics (including neonatal care)
  • Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • General Medicine
  • Gastroenterology
  • Orthopaedics
  • General Surgery
  • Ophthalmology
  • ENT
  • Urology
  • Plastics

About you

You will have Registration as Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Authority (or soon to be registered as a Specialist) within one of the specialty fields listed above.

  • You will also meet the criteria:
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold/be eligible for a visa that allows you to work as a doctor in Australia.
