About the role
The Mater Mothers’, Women’s and Pelvic Health team is seeking a high-achieving final-year Physiotherapy student to join our team on a casual basis in a Trainee Physiotherapist role. This position requires a minimum commitment of two days per week from November 2025 through to January 2026 and is ideal for someone planning to pursue a New Graduate Physiotherapy position at Mater Hospitals Brisbane.
(HP1) Salary range: $30.95 - $36.41 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Trainee Physiotherapist (HP1), you will undertake allocated clinical activities that would otherwise be performed by a Physiotherapist (HP3 or above). These tasks will be entrusted to you based on your prior training, clinical placement experience, and demonstrated competence.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering delegated physiotherapy interventions under the supervision of a registered physiotherapist (HP3 or above)
Performing clinical activities that align with your previous placement experience and proven capabilities
Documenting all allocated activities and relevant training in your Clinical Activity Register
Participating in supervision and feedback sessions to guide your development
Identifying and communicating learning needs to support your clinical growth
About you
A clear understanding of your scope of practice and professional responsibility to work within it
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
A commitment to ongoing learning, with a proactive approach to feedback and skill development
A flexible and responsive attitude to clinical demands and service needs
The ability to follow direction and clinical guidance from supervising physiotherapists (HP3 and above)
