About the role

Mater Food Services currently has Permanent Part-time positions available, working 20 hours per week for Operational Officers – Room Service Representatives.

The permanent part time roster rotation for 20 hours per week is a mixture of 4 hour shifts and 8 hour shifts and the rotation is for 11 fortnight cycle with rotating shifts and rotating days off. Applicants will need availability to meet the roster rotation across 7 days.

Salary range: (Operational Employees) $31.24 - $33.68 per hour plus 12% superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As the first point of contact between patients and Food Services, Operational Officers- Room Service Representatives are responsible for all incoming Room Service meal orders and enquiries.

The key responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Accurately taking patient meal orders either by phone with an electronic application or at bedside using an iPad, and ensuring that patient safety guidelines, customer service standards and scripting are followed.
  • Being familiar with the Room Service menu, using the appropriate terminology and being able to confidently describe available options. The ability to actively promote and upsell items is also required.
  • Explaining menu options and adhering to guidelines and coding compliance in place for patients with Therapeutic Diet requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, including administrative tasks, troubleshooting patient and staff enquiries and liaising with Clinical staff.
  • Responding quickly and positively to changing requirements, whether within the department or outside, in order to meet business demands.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Excellent customer service with the willingness to go above and beyond to exceed patient expectations.
  • High level of communication skills including the ability to build rapport quickly with patients and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confidence using computers and technology. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with meal ordering systems, such as CBORD is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, problem solving and time management skills.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and the ability to work in a team, with willingness to be a role model and promote the Mater values.
