About the role
Mater is seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Workforce Manager to join the Medical Education and Workforce Services (MEWS) team at South Brisbane on a full time, maximum term (approx. 14 month) basis commencing October 2025.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the planning, recruitment, allocation, and rostering of our junior medical workforce, ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency and staff wellbeing.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll lead and support the Medical Workforce team while managing the recruitment, rostering, and leave planning of our prevocational Medical Officers (Interns, Rotational Junior and Senior House Officers, and Critical Care Senior House Officers).
You’ll provide expert advice on workforce issues, ensuring compliance with best practice standards and fostering initiatives that improve staff engagement and wellbeing.
Working closely with the Director of Clinical Training and Director Medical Education and Workforce, you’ll play a vital part in shaping a positive and supportive environment for the next generation of medical professionals.
About you
You are a confident and collaborative leader with a strong background in medical workforce management. To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in medical workforce management.
- Demonstrated experience in junior doctor workforce planning, recruitment, and rostering.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build capability, foster collaboration, and create a positive team culture.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Effective organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, with the ability to analyse data and provide insights.
- Desirable: A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Management, Leadership, or a related field.
