About the role

Mater is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Medical Workforce Coordinator to join our high-achieving Medical Education and Workforce Services (MEWS) team. This is a full-time maximum-term role (approx. 14 months), based at our South Brisbane campus, commencing October 2025.

As a Medical Workforce Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring streamlined and efficient recruitment, allocation, and engagement of junior medical officers across Mater Health. You’ll work closely with the Director of Medical Education and Workforce and the Medical Workforce Manager to support workforce planning, recruitment, and compliance functions that underpin safe, high-quality care.

Salary range: $54.57 - $59.38 per hour plus 12% superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll support Mater’s Medical Workforce Unit to deliver seamless recruitment, rostering, and workforce management for junior medical staff. You will:

  • Coordinate Mater’s participation in the statewide RMO Campaign, including reporting, data review, and liaison with Queensland Health.
  • Manage recruitment processes for PGY1/2/3 candidates, PHOs, Registrars, Fellows, and International Medical Graduates, ensuring timely onboarding and compliance.
  • Assist with ad-hoc and mid-year recruitment in partnership with HR Recruitment and relevant clinical units.
  • Contribute to junior doctor engagement initiatives, orientation programs, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate workforce data, appointment spreadsheets, and ensure compliance with relevant policies, legislation, and enterprise agreements.
  • Provide advice and support to junior medical staff, managers, and stakeholders on recruitment, rostering, and workforce planning matters.

About you

You’re a proactive and collaborative workforce professional with strong organisational skills and a passion for supporting junior doctors. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in medical recruitment or workforce coordination.
  • A sound understanding of junior doctor roles, responsibilities, and recruitment processes.
  • The ability to balance workforce needs, training requirements, and candidate preferences.
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to source information from government, regulatory, and accreditation bodies.
  • High-level communication and liaison skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ICT capability and confidence using workforce and recruitment systems.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, adaptability, and innovation.
  • An understanding of (or willingness to quickly learn) accreditation standards set out by the Australian Medical Council for junior medical officers.
