About the role
Mater Health Hub Springfield is currently seeking applications for a Senior Speech Pathologist (Paediatrics) to join the team on a fixed-term (12 months), part-time basis (2 days per week).
The Senior Speech Pathologist (Paediatrics) at Mater Health Hub Springfield will provide high level clinical services to patients with swallowing and communication difficulties, in a private practice style setting. This position is required to independently assess and treat patients with minimal direct clinical supervision. The role will work with the Manager, Mater Health Hub Springfield to assist in growing the paediatric speech pathology service.
(HP4) Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Deliver high level evidence-based speech pathology assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients in a private paediatric outpatient setting, with minimal direct clinical practice supervision.
Undertake clinical decision-making and judgements necessary for design and implementation of appropriate evidence-based interventions.
Work to develop and grow the paediatric speech pathology service, with various service development activities, aligned with overarching strategy of Mater Health Hub Springfield and in consultation with the Manager, Mater Health Hub Springfield.
Work cooperatively and communicate effectively within the health care team, with clients, parents and other stakeholders including referring doctors (for example general practitioners).
Demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills with a focus on efficiency.
Formulate clinical reports including correspondence back to referring practitioners.
Provide clinical supervision and support to less experienced speech pathology staff.
About you
To be successful within the role you will have the following:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.
Eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
Hold a Blue card.
Demonstrated significant experience in provision of speech pathology services to a paediatric caseload across a range of ages and conditions, ideally within a private outpatient setting.
Proven ability to assess and treat a range of clinical presentations, confidently and with minimal direct clinical supervision.
Demonstrated experience in growing a clinical service.
Advanced communication skills including experience in fostering engagement with patients, family and other stakeholders.
