About the role

Mater Private Hospital Mackay are looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join our team! Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager, this position will be a permanent, full-time role.

Mater Private Hospital Mackay is part of the Mater Health ministry within the wider Mater network. Salary: $124,394.00 plus 12% superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Management Accountant, you will provide financial expertise through a range of specialist accounting advice and services to support Mater’s strategic and operational goals. With a focus on optimising Mater’s finance function, this includes activities such as planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and financial performance monitoring with emphasis on supporting other managers within the organisation in understanding and fulfilling their financial responsibilities.

Your key duties will include but not to be limited to:

  • Analyses financial and non-financial information to provide insight into the performance of the branch to enhance decision making.
  • Liaises with cost centre managers to review and analyse financial performance and provide financial input to development of interventions related to business performance.
  • Identifies and communicates trends and opportunities for improvement and identify financial risk to the business.
  • Understands key drivers of the business and how they relate to the financial performance of the business.
  • Uses tools available (Power BI etc.) to analyse trends and notifies business of associated financial impact / opportunity.
  • Undertakes continuous monitoring of financial performance comparing to in month forecast.
  • Provides financial education and training to the business.
  • Supports strategic planning and business planning.
  • Key member of respective corporate support executive branch.
  • Develop strong relationships with various stakeholders in the organisation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Business (or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience in operational and financial data analysis, e.g. month end result such as revenue, costs, margin and cash flow.
  • Demonstrated experience leading within an interdisciplinary environment and empowering staff through the application of values based and transparent management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise projects and meet regular deadlines.
  • Well-developed data analysis and communication skills.
  • Digital and computer literacy with advanced Excel skills.
