Mater is seeking applications for a GP/Clinical Liaison Midwife to join us in this permanent, part-time (38hrs per fortnight) opportunity, based at our South Brisbane Campus. If you are a Registered Midwife and are ready to put your leadership skills into practice, do not miss this chance! 

This role will be assisting in the additional referrals for our brand-new Mater Hospital Springfield opening in 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced Midwife to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team at Mater Mothers' Hospital as well as with the General Practitioner Community to ensure safe, timely and effective maternity care. Your experience and skills will see you become an integral part of the team that is committed to delivering outstanding care and services.

The GP/Clinical Liaison Midwife reports to the Antenatal Clinic Midwife Unit Manager. Responsibilities will include provision of maternity care, triage and management of referrals, enhanced communication and leadership, support and ongoing education for Mater Mothers’ staff, GPs and community partners.

About you

You will be a Registered Midwife with current AHPRA registration (with no restrictions) and meet the below criteria:

  • Advanced clinical competency and experience within a Midwifery clinical environment
  • Demonstrated high levels of communication (both written and verbal) and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Significant postgraduate experience in a Midwifery environment
  • Evidence of continuing educational and professional development
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
  • Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and best practice principles
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
