Mater has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Immigration and Registration Specialist to join our Medical Education and Workforce Services team, based at Mater South Brisbane.
This permanent, full-time role plays a vital part in supporting the engagement and ongoing compliance of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) across Mater Health. You’ll contribute to a mission-driven organisation that’s improving health and wellbeing across Queensland.
Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this specialist position, you’ll coordinate and oversee all aspects of medical registration and immigration sponsorship processes for international medical officers.
You will:
- Administer and monitor visa nominations, registration application requirements for IMGs.
- Liaise with key stakeholders including the Department of Home Affairs, AHPRA, and Medical Colleges to ensure all legislative and organisational requirements are met.
- Provide expert advice, education, and process improvement to streamline medical workforce onboarding and compliance.
- Act as the key point of contact for IMGs, ensuring a supportive and efficient experience throughout their employment journey with Mater.
About you
You’re a detail-oriented professional who thrives on managing complex processes and providing exceptional service within a regulatory environment. You bring sound knowledge of medical registration and immigration frameworks and can confidently advise stakeholders at all levels.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated experience and detailed knowledge of medical immigration and registration requirements (DoHA, AHPRA, and Medical Board of Australia).
- Advanced understanding of legislative and compliance frameworks relating to International Medical Graduates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex legislation and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
