About the role
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Education Coordinator – Perioperative Services to join us in a permanent, part time (26 hours per week) role starting in February 2026. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $66.85 - $72.58 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the Education Coordinator – Perioperative Services, you’ll lead the design and delivery of innovative, evidence-based education and professional development programs that support our people and ensure excellence in perioperative care. You will work closely with Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Facilitators, and educators across the organisation to ensure high-quality, consistent learning experiences that reflect contemporary perioperative practice.
- Deliver high-quality perioperative education aligned with national standards and Mater’s strategic goals
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of interprofessional learning opportunities
- Design individualised learning plans for perioperative staff and support their development journey
- Facilitate simulation-based training to build technical skills, communication, and teamwork
- Collaborate on workforce development, succession planning, and clinical capability building
- Contribute to practice development, policy review, and quality improvement initiatives
- Seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in education and patient care practices
- Champion critical thinking, innovation, and best practice in perioperative education
- Benchmark education and specialty practices against national and international standards
- Develop tailored learning plans in collaboration with stakeholders for staff requiring additional support
- Engage in educational research and quality improvement opportunities
- Manage relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to drive change and improve services
- Role model transformational leadership attributes and traits
About you
You are an experienced educator and clinician with a passion for developing others and improving healthcare outcomes. You bring a strong understanding of adult learning principles, leadership in education, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. Your collaborative approach enables you to build effective relationships and inspire growth in others.
What you’ll need:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife (or relevant professional registration)
- Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing (essential)
- Postgraduate qualification in teaching or education equivalent, highly desirable (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and evaluating clinical education programs
- High-level communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
- Ability to initiate, coordinate, and evaluate quality improvement initiatives in education and clinical environments
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 and digital education platforms to create engaging content and track learning outcomes
- Ability to lead and influence within a dynamic, interprofessional environment
