Senior Administration Officer - Ward Clerk

About the role

Mater Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Administration Officer to join the Inpatients Administration Team working part-time (32 hours per fortnight) as a Ward Clerk.

This position will see you working varied weekday shifts (Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm), with every second Saturday (8:00am – 12:00pm). Flexibility in availability will provide opportunities for additional shifts.

Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour (MCAS3) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Key Accountabilities and experience required for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, organise, and provide confidential administrative support to various wards, ensuring efficient operations and representing Mater with a strong customer focus towards staff, patients, and visitors
  • Perform administrative functions as required, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, working closely with the Nursing Unit Manager and Clinical Team
  • Ensure effective, accurate, and timely communication with staff and clients, always communicating with sensitivity and discretion
  • Provide accurate data entry using various network-based information systems to efficiently manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in a timely manner
  • Carry out other administrative duties as directed by your Team Leader or Manager
  • Exercise judgement to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents are not established and procedures are undefined.

About you

You will have:

  • High level customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience providing efficient and effective administrative support in a timely and organised manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff at all levels, patients, and visitors
  • Accurate data entry skills and high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in busy, fast paced environments
  • Abilit to respond competently and calmly in emergency situations, maintaining composure and the ability to think quickly on your feet
  • Previous administration experience within a healthcare environment is highly regarded
