Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Protective Services Team Leaders to join us across a range of permanent, full-time positions. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Note: These roles will start early March to Mid-April.
Salary range: $38.01 - $41.57 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Lead and manage a team responsible for ensuring the security and safety of people and assets at Mater Hospital Springfield. Duties include overseeing first responder actions, providing support and training to fire wardens, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Provide leadership and support to Protective Services Officers
- Promote a "service first" philosophy to ensure security responsibilities align with Mater's consumer experience goals
- Identify and address inefficiencies in service delivery
- Support service planning and operational initiatives to drive continuous improvement
- Develop and recommend safety procedures based on incident reports and relevant information
- Cultivate productive relationships with external organisations and ensure compliance with service level agreements
- Monitor security systems, including CCTV and access control, to maintain operational efficiency
- Manage Security Services activities, such as loss prevention and traffic coordination, to safeguard hospital property
- Ensure timely completion of Fire Safety and Security Audits, recording findings and implementing necessary actions
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a current Security Officer / Crowd Controller Licence and Certificate 3 Security Operations.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Protective Services/Security positions overseeing staff
- Current Driver’s License
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation and ability to build strong client relationships
- Knowledge of relevant legislation codes and standards
- Experience in health sector or large campus settings
- Team Leader/Coordinator experience
- Understanding of risk management principles and guidelines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
