Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Protective Services Officers to join us in a mixture of permanent, part-time and full-time roles. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Note: These roles will start early March to Mid-April.
Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The Protective Services Officer (Fire safety & Security) at Mater Hospital Springfield will ensure the security and safety of people and assets across Mater campuses, conducting First Responder actions, performing audits (Fire & Security) and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Promote a "service first" philosophy for Protective Services aligned with Mater's consumer experience goals
- Support service planning and operational initiatives for continuous improvement in line with organisational objectives
- Foster relationships with stakeholders and drive process change for exceptional customer service
- Monitor security systems and control Protective Services activities
- Attend to security incidents and conduct security-related duties
- Maintain key relationships, provide constructive feedback, and ensure accountability for goal attainment within Mater
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a current Security Officer / Crowd Controller License and Certificate 2 Security Operations / Guarding.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and possess a current Driver’s License
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high customer service orientation
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation codes and standards
- Industry experience in a similar role, preferably in the health sector or large campus setting
- Knowledge of risk management principles and guidelines in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009
