Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Pharmacist Team Leader to join us in a Permanent, Full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Mater Pharmacy will provide a clinical service to all inpatient areas and outpatient clinics, as well as serving the local community’s health needs. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, you would share responsibility for the management of the Springfield Pharmacy which will include robotic automation, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.

Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30 (HP5) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will work closely with the Clinical Pharmacist Team Leader to provide clinical and professional leadership to the pharmacy team, applying advanced clinical judgement and people leadership skills to deliver a safe, effective and high-quality clinical pharmacy service that optimises patient outcomes.

You will:

Split your time between service provision and managerial responsibilities which include:

  • Lead, support and develop a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and students to deliver consistent, high-quality clinical pharmacy and outpatient/community pharmacy services
  • Apply advanced clinical judgement to complex clinical decision making, providing guidance and escalation support to team members as required
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clinicians and stakeholders to support safe and effective medication management
  • Oversee and contribute to quality improvement, service development and implementation of clinical practices, procedures and protocols
  • Support workforce planning, performance development, coaching and feedback to build capability and engagement within the pharmacy team
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning by supporting professional development, education and clinical supervision
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, professional, organisational and medication safety requirements
  • Contribute to achieving organisational objectives, including service efficiency, patient experience and financial sustainability
  • Work closely with hospital staff and collaborate with other Pharmacy Team Leaders and managers to coordinate clinical pharmacy services across all areas of Mater Health SEQ.

As well as the Springfield team, you will have the opportunity to engage with and be supported by all other Mater Pharmacy teams at Mater Redland and South Brisbane including Inventory Management, Clinical Trials, Medicines Information, Community Services and the Production Unit.

Our service to the hospitals is required 365 days per year so the role will include a share of evening, public holiday and weekend shifts as well as provision of an on-call service to all our facilities on a rostered basis.

About you

The ideal candidate will be an experienced pharmacist with demonstrated leadership capability and a commitment to developing high-performing teams and delivering excellent patient care.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Pharmacy and current registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA (without restrictions)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Pharmacist
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical pharmacy practice and dispensary management, with the ability to apply advanced clinical judgement and problem solving skills
  • Experience leading, mentoring or supervising pharmacists, support staff and/or students
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance clinical, leadership and operational priorities
  • A commitment to quality improvement, medication safety and professional development
  • The flexibility to work a share of all shifts including evenings, weekends, public holidays and on-call on a rostered basis

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy, leadership or management, or a willingness to undertake further study
  • ANZCAP recognition at registrar or consultant level in a relevant specialty area
  • Previous experience in pharmacy robotic automation
