About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is inviting applications from Undergraduate Students in Nursing (USiN) to join our team. These casual positions are based at the South Brisbane campus, with placements within the Central Staffing Office (CSO), providing opportunities to work across a range of ward settings.
Please note that the orientation days will be held consecutively on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, and Thursday, 19 March 2026. Attendance on both days is mandatory.
What you’ll be doing
You will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, assisting with patient care as delegated by the RN.
You will consistently deliver a high level of clinical care to patients, demonstrating clinical knowledge and consulting with the registered nurse to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient-centered care.
You will experience a variety of work in surgical, medical, and oncology care and will work closely with nursing colleagues and the greater healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.
Your scope is in alignment with the knowledge and competency requirements of your university studies, with role expectations as per below.
About you
You will be an undergraduate student in nursing (having completed 1st semester of 2nd year - full-time equivalent). Documented evidence of completion is mandatory.
- Demonstrate flexibility to perform in a variety of clinical areas, adaptability to integrate into different teams and work under different Nurse Unit Managers
- Be available to complete shifts at short notice
- Be committed to excellence in nursing practice and professional development
- Demonstrate ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
- Previous experience in nursing e.g., AIN
