About the role
Mater Mother’s Hospital is a premier women’s health facility and Queensland’s largest maternity care provider. We are excited to be able to offer an interested Obstetrician the opportunity to work in our innovative public antenatal clinic.
The Mater’s Mothers public hospital cares for approximately 6000 publicly funded women annually. The antenatal care service includes an established GP shared care program which is supported by an innovative GP alignment program and GP liaison midwifery team. The position consists of a weekly 4-hour antenatal clinic session.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Mater’s unique approach to antenatal care places women at the centre of their pregnancy journey and values strong collaboration between midwifery and medical teams. Our clinicians coordinate and deliver patient care through both face‑to‑face and telehealth consultations, enabling women to access support in community settings or from the comfort of their home, backed by innovative digital systems.
In this role, you will provide clinical care during a weekly antenatal clinic session, offering a mix of in‑person and telehealth consultations. You will support women across several models of care, working alongside GP specialists, specialist midwives, maternal‑fetal medicine specialists and obstetric physicians. Comprehensive local guidelines are readily available to assist with safe and informed clinical decision‑making.
About you
This role is suited to an Obstetrician looking to expand their clinical exposure and contribute to the public service, further building relationships across the Mothers’ hospitals. A very small contribution to public on-call will allow you to experience high-volume, high-risk obstetrics.
The successful applicant will be expected to hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and current specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner regulation Agency (AHPRA).
