About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane – Outpatients Department has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse – Scheduler to join our team in a permanent, full-time position.

Based at Mater Hospital Brisbane, this vital role plays a key part in supporting safe, timely and efficient theatre utilisation, ensuring patients are optimally prepared and scheduled for surgery. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Registered Nurse who enjoys coordination, collaboration and making a meaningful impact in the pre-operative patient journey.

 Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour + casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

 What you’ll be doing

 In this role, you will support optimal patient outcomes by coordinating and managing elective surgery scheduling and readiness for care.

  • Scheduling consented patients for surgery within required timeframes
  • Ensuring compliance with Elective Surgery Implementation Standards
  • Optimising patients for theatre readiness in the pre-operative phase
  • Liaising with medical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
  • Acting as a patient advocate to ensure informed consent and clear communication
  • Supporting safe, efficient theatre list utilisation and service delivery

 About you

You are a motivated and organised Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and brings a strong patient-centred focus to your work.

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience
  • Experience or interest in theatre scheduling, preadmission or outpatient coordination
  • Knowledge of elective surgery standards and clinical prioritisation guidelines (or willingness to develop)
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confidence using clinical and administrative systems such as iPM, Verdi and Microsoft applications
