About the role
Mater Pathology is seeking an experienced Administration Officer to join our call centre–based Customer Service team on a Permanent Part-Time basis, working 16 hours per week. This role is primarily telephone-focused, providing high‑volume customer service and administrative support across our pathology departments.
Standard working days for this role are alternating Mondays and Fridays, plus every Thursday. Additional shifts may become available from time to time to cover planned and unplanned leave. Shifts are scheduled between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as required.
Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this customer-focused, call-centre style role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing high-volume inbound and outbound telephone enquiries professionally and efficiently
- Providing exceptional customer service via phone and electronic communication channels
- Processing additional pathology test requests accurately and within required timeframes
- Booking and coordinating home visit pathology requests
- Allocating routine and ad hoc work to the courier fleet
- Providing administrative support to the Warfarin Monitoring Clinic team
- Performing general administrative duties as required to support service delivery
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience transcribing anatomical pathology reports
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly within anatomical pathology
- Typing speed of 60–80 words per minute, with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional phone manner
- Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment
- Previous call centre and data entry experience
- Familiarity with the Ultra Laboratory Information System
- Experience working in a pathology or laboratory environment, with awareness of safety and quality requirements
