About the role

Mater Health has an exciting opportunity for an Administration Officer to join our Contacting Team at South Brisbane on a permanent, part-time basis (19 hours per week).

This role is integral to the smooth operation of two high-volume admissions areas, playing a key part in supporting patient flow, theatre readiness and overall service efficiency. Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll provide proactive and high-quality administrative support to ensure patients are fully prepared for their procedures and services run efficiently. Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively contacting patients to confirm and update demographics and pre-admission information
  • Preparing, reviewing and scanning admission documentation ahead of scheduled procedures
  • Identifying and resolving potential administrative issues prior to admission to prevent delays
  • Supporting patient flow by ensuring readiness for scheduled theatre times
  • Delivering exceptional, patient-centred service to patients, families and clinical teams
  • Contributing to streamlined processes that reduce pressure on admissions and nursing staff

About you

You are a calm, organised and service-driven administrator who thrives in a collaborative healthcare setting. You will bring:

  • Experience in an administrative role, ideally within a healthcare or medical environment
  • Experience in a call centre environment or undertaking outbound calls, with a high degree of accuracy when verifying and updating patient demographic information (highly regarded)
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks within tight timeframes
  • A patient-centred approach with a genuine commitment to exceptional service
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office and learn health information systems
  • Initiative, sound judgement and a positive, team-focused attitude aligned with Mater’s values
