About the role
Mater have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category & Contracts Manager to join our Group Finance team on a full-time, maximum term contract (12 months) , based at Mater’s Newstead campus.
In this influential role, you’ll play a key part in delivering value-driven procurement and contract management outcomes that support Mater’s Mission and strategic objectives, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers across a complex and diverse organisation.
Salary range: $70.32 – 75.47 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the Category & Contracts Manager, you will lead strategic category and contract management activities to deliver value, mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement across Mater.
Develop, own and execute category and contract strategies, initiatives and plans aligned to organisational priorities
Lead end-to-end procurement activities across a broad portfolio, ensuring compliance with Mater policies and relevant legislation
Negotiate, establish and manage commercial contracts, ensuring value for money and strong supplier performance
Provide subject matter expertise on high-value and high-risk contracts, including contract formation and dispute resolution
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, fostering a collaborative business partnering approach
Monitor market trends and industry developments to inform strategic sourcing and innovation
Oversee procurement systems, reporting and data analysis across spend, performance, risk and pipelines
Deliver benefits realisation plans and report on outcomes, risks and opportunities across the category portfolio
About you
You are a commercially astute procurement professional who thrives in a complex environment and enjoys building trusted partnerships to deliver meaningful outcomes.
Extensive experience in procurement, category and contract management within a large, complex organisation
Strong expertise in commercial negotiation, contract development and supplier management
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic procurement and category initiatives
Demonstrated experience managing complex supplier and stakeholder issues and resolving performance concerns
Strong analytical capability, with experience using e-procurement systems and generating meaningful insights from data
Well-developed project management, change management and performance improvement skills
A relevant procurement or business qualification or certification (desirable)
A commitment to Mater’s Mission, Values and behavioural standards, with a strong focus on collaboration, integrity and service excellence
