Mater Pharmacy have an exciting opportunity for professional Pharmacy Technicians to join our Springfield Pharmacy team as a Clinical Support Technician on a permanent basis working full-time or part-time (as a job share).
Based predominantly at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Mater Pharmacy will provide a clinical service to all inpatient areas and outpatient clinics, as well as serving the local community’s health needs so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.
Salary range: $38.01 - $41.57 per hour (OO4) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Clinical Support Technician, you will work within a team of pharmacists and technicians to deliver safe, effective and high-quality level of pharmacy service to optimise outcomes for all patients and customers of Mater Springfield.
Your role will predominantly be based in designated inpatient wards and with a variety of duties including:
- Providing responsive customer-focused service and ensuring effective communication between ward staff and pharmacy
- prioritisation of patients and tasks for inpatient wards
- assisting with documentation of medication history, updating patient information and preparing discharge medication lists
- liaising with nursing and medical staff regarding medication supply including financial approvals and billing when required
- maintaining records including allergy and adverse drug reactions, concession and safety net details
- liaising with external facilities and community health care providers to ensure continuity of care for individual patients
- Working with other pharmacy staff to ensure accurate and timely supply of medications to all patients and clinical areas
This role will be based at our Springfield campus but there may be opportunity to train with and in future work in other Clinical Support Technician roles at South Brisbane from time to time. Training will be provided, and ongoing support is available within the on-site team and also Mater Pharmacy South Brisbane teams which include Inventory Management, Clinical Trials, Medicines Information, Community Services and the Production Unit.
Our service to the hospitals is required 365 days per year so the role will include a share of evening, public holiday and weekend shifts on a rostered basis.
About you
You are an experienced and proactive Pharmacy Technician with strong knowledge of medication supply requirements, pharmacy processes and medication safety principles. You take pride in ensuring high standards of accuracy and safety in all aspects of pharmacy services. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy team work and are passionate about supporting quality patient care through efficient and reliable pharmacy services.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Commenced or completed a Certificate IV in Community/Hospital Pharmacy, or equivalent (those who are willing to commence the course will also be considered)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician or similar role
- A professional attitude and a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams
- Passion for customer service and appreciation of the importance of delivering exceptional service every time
- Professional, hardworking attitude and willing to work cooperatively and effectively with all team members
- Previous relevant work experience is highly desirable
- The flexibility to work additional shifts, including some weekends and public holidays is desirable
