About the role
Mater has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join the Nutrition and Dietetics team on a permanent, fulltime basis.
Mater Nutrition and Dietetics delivers high quality care across tertiary Adult, Maternity and Neonatal, Adolescent and Paediatric services. Services are provided to both public and private patients across the South Brisbane and Redlands campuses, supporting a network of more than 900 beds.
The department has a strong commitment to education and workforce development, playing a key role in the training of clinical, research and foodservice pre-registration students. The team also works closely with partner universities to support Nutrition and Dietetics education standards.
Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this key leadership role, you will provide operational leadership and clinical supervision to a high-performing team. You will combine strong people leadership with advanced clinical expertise to improve patient outcomes, experiences and support the ongoing development and sustainability of the service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Apply advanced clinical knowledge and skills to independently deliver specialised nutrition services across the continuum of care, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and in accordance with professional, ethical and legislative standards.
- Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices, protocols and education resources to improve quality and safety.
- Support the professional development of clinicians and support staff through supervision, competency-based training and change management.
- Drive quality improvement, service development and research initiatives that strengthen Nutrition and Dietetics services and contribute to Mater Health priorities.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders and stakeholders on Nutrition and Dietetics priorities, workforce planning and service development.
- Represent the Nutrition and Dietetics Department as a subject matter expert, and resource across internal and external professional networks, committees and collaborative forums.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership through ongoing professional development, maintaining advanced expertise while contributing to the education, supervision and development of Dietitians, Nutritionists and other health professionals.
About you
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is open to innovation and new ways of thinking and has the ability to promote and lead their team.
The successful candidate will bring;
- Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics with current Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong clinical leadership and professional support to a medium sized team of dietitians, fostering capability, accountability and engagement.
- Experience in the operational management and coordination of a dietetics workforce, including human resource responsibilities such as recruitment, onboarding, performance development and appraisal.
- The ability to contribute strategically to service planning and the effective allocation of resources to meet current and emerging service demands.
- Experience developing, implementing and evaluating innovative, evidence-based models of care that deliver measurable improvements in clinical practice and patient outcomes.
- Have experience leading research activities and translating outcomes into meaningful improvements in clinical service delivery.
- High level critical thinking, analysis and decision making with the confidence to navigate complexity and competing priorities.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective engagement with clinicians, leaders and key stakeholders across the organisation.
