About the role
The Education Coordinator Maternity and Gynaecology at the Mater Mothers Hospital will plan, develop, deliver and evaluate education activities and resources to meet current and emergent Mater staff and community learning needs, to improve health literacy and outcomes. Building interprofessional workforce capacity, capability, and competence through the provision of contemporary and evidence-based education, learning activities and practice, the Education Coordinator supports the achievement of educational and clinical excellence.

As an education and clinical expert, the Education Coordinator is accountable for the delivery of education and practice development outcomes and the implementation of High Value Healthcare across Mater Mothers Hospital. The Education Coordinator is also responsible and accountable for managing, supporting, and collaborating with the Clinical Facilitators and key stakeholders to operationalise Mater’s Strategic and Operational plans within their portfolio areas. The Education Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services.

The Mater Mothers’ Hospital (MMH) Maternity & Gynaecology Services is a tertiary level service providing family centred care to both private and public women with either uncomplicated or complicated pregnancies.

In addition to the service provision to local women, MMH provides a tertiary referral service to women and families in the Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales regions.

The focus is on delivering safe, high-quality, and efficient care, ensuring that women remain at the centre of all decision-making processes. Using evidence-based practice and collaborative approaches, we are committed to promoting and supporting normal birth wherever possible.

This is a permanent, full-time position, based on our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $66.85 - $72.48 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you'll be doing

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate interprofessional education programs and evidence-based learning resources across Maternity & Gynaecology Services.
  • Lead the development and delivery of portfolio Education Plans aligned to Mater’s strategic and operational priorities.
  • Incorporate contemporary methodologies (including simulation) to build workforce capability, competence and clinical excellence.
  • Support and manage Clinical Facilitators, providing guidance, performance feedback and development opportunities.
  • Partner with leaders, clinicians, universities and professional bodies to ensure education remains contemporary, compliant and aligned to service needs.
  • Design, coordinate and evaluate Graduate, Transition to Professional Practice and preceptor programs.
  • Monitor compliance, manage education-related risk and contribute to a strong culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.

About you

  • Current and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with AHPRA.
  • Experienced clinical educator with a strong background in maternity and/or gynaecology services.
  • Postgraduate qualified (or working towards) in education and/or specialty practice, with strong knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Skilled in developing, delivering and evaluating education programs using contemporary, evidence-based approaches.
  • Confident communicator with advanced written and verbal skills, able to influence, negotiate and embed change.
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience using data to inform education design and improve clinical outcomes.
  • Highly organised and self-directed, able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Collaborative and values-driven leader who role models accountability, integrity and a commitment to lifelong learning.
