About the role
Mater Health is seeking a Senior Medical Officer in Dermatology to join our Medical and Chronic Disease Services team in a casual capacity .
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and motivated clinician to contribute to high-quality patient care within Dermatology and the Skin Service. You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care in line with the standards of the Medical Board of Australia.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will work closely with the Plastic Surgery Service to ensure continuity of care and a coordinated clinical approach for patients. You will bring strong clinical capability across dermatology practice, while continuing to build your expertise in procedural techniques, patient management, and communication.
You will also play an important role in supporting and mentoring junior medical staff, while contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assessing patients through interview and examination to identify clinical issues
Planning and managing overall patient care, including advocacy and clear communication
Ordering, interpreting, and reporting on appropriate investigations
Monitoring patient progress and conducting ongoing reviews
Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
Preparing discharge summaries, letters, and required reports
Supervising and supporting junior medical officers
Collaborating with senior medical staff, nursing, allied health, and support teams
Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination standards
About you
This role will suit a dynamic, AHPRA-registered Medical Practitioner with experience in Dermatology, who works well within multidisciplinary teams and is confident in mentoring and sharing knowledge with others.
The ideal applicant will have:
Specialist AHPRA registration
Appropriate specialist qualifications
Experience teaching in tertiary institutions (desirable)
Demonstrated experience in medical research (desirable)
