About the role
Mater Mother’s Hospital is a premier women’s health facility and Queensland’s largest maternity care provider. We are excited to be able to offer a unique position to a General Practitioner (GP) with a special interest in maternity care. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in the provision of low and high-risk maternity care, as well as contribute to the Mater Mother’s GP alignment program.
This role will be appointed maximum term 12 months for 4 hours per week on a Friday afternoon.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The Mater’s Mothers public hospital cares for approximately 6000 publicly funded women annually. The Pregnancy Assessment Centre (PAC) cares for women presenting with acute concerns, or high risk conditions requiring monitoring, at any gestation of pregnancy and up to 6 weeks post-partum. The role comprises a single clinical session weekly on a Friday from 13.00-17.00.
You will provide care to women attending the PAC, supported by Obstetricians, Obstetric and Emergency Medicine Registrars, Midwives, Specialist Early Pregnancy Nurses, Maternal-foetal Medicine specialists and Obstetric Physicians. You will also work closely with, and provide support to, resident medical officers and medical students rotating through the unit. Comprehensive local guidelines are available to support clinical decision making, and a Consultant Obstetrician is on site 24 hours a day.
In addition to providing clinical care, in collaboration with our GP Alignment program lead, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of GP alignment programs.
About you
- GP with a special interest in maternity care, who has obtained a Diploma of O&G or a Certificate of Women’s’ health from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or equivalent)
- The successful candidate will ideally have current and future experience of participating in GP share care with Mater (as a GP)
