Senior Health and Safety Advisor

Mater is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Human Resources team in Brisbane in a permanent, full-time role. This is a pivotal role supporting the health and safety of our people across Mater. If you’re passionate about workplace safety, continuous improvement and supporting leaders to create safe, thriving environments, we’d love to hear from you. This role will primarily be based at South Brisbane but may require travel to other sites within South East Queensland.

Salary range: $124,394 - $133,248 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll provide expert safety advice, support incident and injury management, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Mater’s health and safety systems. You’ll work closely with leaders, Health & Safety Representatives, and the broader WHS team to ensure compliance, reduce risk and maintain safe, healthy workplaces for all.

  • Provide day‑to‑day WHS support, coaching and guidance to managers and employees
  • Support the facilitation of risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations
  • Develop WHS procedures, documents and reports
  • Contribute to safety initiatives, wellbeing programs and continuous improvement
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

 About you

  • Certificate IV in WHS Diploma highly regarded
  • 5+ years experience in a similar WHS role
  • Healthcare experience highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, investigations and risk management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills and experience with incident/injury management systems
