Mater Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton. This is a permanent, full‑time opportunity based at our Rockhampton City hospital.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership of Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton. You will be accountable for delivering safe, high‑quality care, meeting clinical and operational performance targets and strengthening relationships within the local community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading with integrity and a strong commitment to values‑based leadership
  • Driving organisational change, growth, and service excellence
  • Providing hands‑on, solutions‑focused operational leadership
  • Leveraging deep knowledge of the private health system at both state and national levels
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with key customers and community stakeholders
  • Leading strategic and clinical service planning
  • Overseeing overall operational performance, governance, policy compliance and reporting
  • Managing budgets, resources, risk, and workplace health and safety
  • Using business and operational data to guide improvement and decision‑making
  • Promoting staff wellbeing, professional development, and retention
  • Supporting performance management and ensuring adherence to Mater’s code of conduct

About you 

You will bring tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in business, finance, healthcare management or a related discipline, along with:

  • Clinical qualifications and experience leading in a clinical environment (highly desirable)
  • Significant leadership experience within private acute hospital settings
  • A deep understanding of Mater’s identity, and a genuine commitment to living our Mission, Vision and Values
