About the role
Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for experienced and passionate Registered Nurses to join the Non-Acute Medical Ward (Papaya) on a permanent part-time basis.
This 12–18 bed ward provides care for patients awaiting placement, offering a supportive environment focused on maintaining patient wellbeing and continuity of care.
Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has been supporting the health of people living in and around Rockhampton for more than a century. Our heritage-listed Kenmore building was purchased by the Sisters of Mercy in 1915 and opened as the first Mater Hospital in Central Queensland. Today, our 136-bed facility features five operating theatres, a private emergency service and a wide range of specialised clinical services.
Salary range: $41.73- $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred nursing care within a multidisciplinary team
Support patients’ physical, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs throughout their care journey
Complete clinical assessments and contribute to care planning and coordination
Work within scope of practice, following clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Monitor patient conditions and escalate changes or concerns as required
Collaborate with the healthcare team to support safe, effective patient outcomes
Assist with discharge planning, including patient education and referrals
Contribute to a safe workplace culture aligned with “zero harm” principles
Participate in quality improvement, learning activities, and team development
Uphold Mater’s Mission and Values in all aspects of care
About you

To be successful in this position, you will have the following:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no practice restrictions
Digital and computer proficiency
Minimum of 12 months post-graduate experience
Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care and outcomes
Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
Demonstrates a collaborative and engaging approach to teamwork and the ability to work within the multi-disciplinary team
