About the role

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for experienced and passionate Registered Nurses to join the Non-Acute Medical Ward (Papaya) on a permanent part-time basis.

This 12–18 bed ward provides care for patients awaiting placement, offering a supportive environment focused on maintaining patient wellbeing and continuity of care.

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has been supporting the health of people living in and around Rockhampton for more than a century. Our heritage-listed Kenmore building was purchased by the Sisters of Mercy in 1915 and opened as the first Mater Hospital in Central Queensland. Today, our 136-bed facility features five operating theatres, a private emergency service and a wide range of specialised clinical services.

Salary range: $41.73- $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred nursing care within a multidisciplinary team
• Support patients’ physical, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs throughout their care journey
• Complete clinical assessments and contribute to care planning and coordination
• Work within scope of practice, following clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Monitor patient conditions and escalate changes or concerns as required
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to support safe, effective patient outcomes
• Assist with discharge planning, including patient education and referrals
• Contribute to a safe workplace culture aligned with “zero harm” principles
• Participate in quality improvement, learning activities, and team development
• Uphold Mater’s Mission and Values in all aspects of care

About you

To be successful in this position, you will have the following: 

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no practice restrictions
• Digital and computer proficiency
• Minimum of 12 months post-graduate experience
• Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care and outcomes
• Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
• Demonstrates a collaborative and engaging approach to teamwork and the ability to work within the multi-disciplinary team
