About the role

Mater Research are looking for a Finance and Administration Officer to join the Surgical/Acute/Neuroscience and Dementia (SAND) team! This maximum term (12 months), with potential for extension, full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus. This role provides essential administrative and operational support to ensure smooth, compliant delivery of clinical trials.

Salary range: $34.88 - $40.01 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Finance and Administration Officer is responsible for assisting in the day-today management of clinical trials. The FAO will coordinate the administrative research requirements as appropriate (and clinical if applicable). They will oversee the administrative tasks and record keeping in a GCP compliant manner.

They are responsible for assisting coordination and administration of trial related activities under the supervision of the Clinical Trial Coordinator. Successful candidate will assist on participant scheduling, record management, filing, data entry, and coordination of communications across study teams. The position supports governance submissions, prepares and maintains investigator site files, and assists with study start‑up, monitoring visits, and meeting logistics. The role contributes to quality control, regulatory compliance, and accurate data handling in line with GCP and ALCOA+ principles. It also supports financial processes such as generating study invoices.

• Completion of an undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
• relevant diploma (AQF5 or AQF6) and experience, or a combination of training and relevant experience
• Awareness of the Australian Clinical trial regulatory framework and applicable guidelines such as ICH GCP as adopted by the TGA and NHRMC guidelines for clinical trials
• Strong organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with competent working knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs including excel, word, teams and outlook
• Ability to operate independently exercising initiative and judgement as well as in collaboration with stakeholders
• Ability to acquire and apply standard process to project specific protocols
• Fluency in English
