Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Ward Services Supervisor to join us in a permanent, full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will supervise and coordinate the ward services team to ensure seamless patient transport, equipment management, and maintenance of a clean and safe hospital environment. You will act as a central point of communication between clinical and support staff, promoting efficient workflows and high standards of service delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting, and developing ward services staff to deliver consistent, quality service
  • Responsibility for managing the Central Clinical Equipment Loan Store
  • Coordinating patient transportation and equipment movement to support clinical activities
  • Monitoring compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control procedures
  • Managing daily operational workflows to minimise delays and optimise resource use
  • Identifying and addressing hazards or maintenance needs promptly to maintain safety
  • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
  • Promoting a positive workplace culture aligned with Mater’s mission, vision, and values

About you

You are a motivated and experienced supervisor who thrives in a dynamic healthcare environment. You have strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and support a team to deliver high-quality ward services. You understand the importance of patient dignity, safety, and operational efficiency, and you are committed to fostering a positive, collaborative workplace culture that upholds Mater’s values.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a hospital or similar setting
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams

  • Ability to identify issues proactively and implement practical solutions
