About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse – Perioperative (Obs, Gynae & Urology) to join our team in a full-time, maximum term (12 months) capacity.

Based at our modern Mater Hospital Springfield campus, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing perioperative service, contributing to high-quality patient care while supporting the ongoing development of a collaborative and high-performing team.

Salary range: $54.45 – $58.30 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will provide advanced clinical care while supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in leading day-to-day operations and driving quality outcomes across the perioperative unit. You will:

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across the perioperative environment
  • Utilise advanced clinical assessment skills to develop and implement individualised care plans
  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager with team leadership, rostering, and resource coordination
  • Contribute to staff education, coaching, and professional development within the unit
  • Promote and uphold National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards in all aspects of care
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and accreditation activities
  • Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and support effective decision-making in complex situations
  • Foster strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams, VMOs, and key stakeholders

About you

You are a confident and capable Clinical Nurse who brings strong perioperative experience and a passion for delivering safe, high-quality patient care. You will bring:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Minimum three years’ clinical experience within a relevant perioperative specialty (Obs, Gynae or Urology highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advanced clinical care and manage complex patient presentations
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience supporting or mentoring nursing teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, evidence-based practice, and patient-centred care
  • Ability to adapt to change and contribute positively within a growing and evolving service
  • Advanced Life Support certification (or willingness to obtain)
