About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Psychologist to join our Parent Support Centre on a Permanent 0.8 FTE basis, delivering high-quality psychological care through individual and group interventions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, GPs, lactation consultants, and community stakeholders, supporting parents experiencing perinatal mental health challenges.

Catherine’s House (CHMBU) is a world-class perinatal and infant mental health service providing both inpatient and outpatient care. The Parent Support Centre is an outpatient service providing brief, evidence-based mental health interventions. We support birthing and non-birthing parents, and parent-infant dyads, during the perinatal period through an integrated, evidence-based model of care.

The Senior Psychologist will provide clinical leadership in perinatal mental health, discipline-specific consultancy, contributing to strategic planning, professional development, research, education, and continuous quality improvement.

Salary range: $66.58 - $71.64 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical leadership in perinatal and infant mental health, supporting parents, infants, and families.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, case formulations, and evidence-based individual and group interventions aligned with the Catherine’s House model of care.
  • Apply specialist knowledge in perinatal and infant mental health to guide treatment planning, risk management, and complex clinical decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor staff, providing clinical supervision, debriefing, and guidance on evidence-based psychological practices.
  • Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to inform care planning, quality improvement, research, and service development.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and implementation of evidence-based clinical guidelines and intervention programs.
  • Maintain expertise in psychological theory and perinatal mental health research, integrating new evidence into practice.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including referrers, GPs, and community networks.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational goals, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a positive team culture and supportive working environment.

About you

Mandatory Qualifications

  • General registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practicing certificate.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Clinical or Educational & Developmental Psychology.
  • Working towards or attained PsyBA approved supervisor.
  • Working towards or attained PsyBA area of practice endorsement in Clinical or Educational & Developmental Psychology

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate extensive experience delivering psychological services within health settings, ideally in perinatal and infant mental health. This includes expertise in evidence‑based and trauma‑informed interventions, sound clinical judgment, and effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. You will also be assessed on your contribution to service development, quality improvement, and your ability to provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship in support of best‑practice care.
