About the role

Mater Health is currently seeking a full-time Principal House Officer - Neurosurgery, to work across our Mater Hospital Campus’ (Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Hospital Springfield). This role will start from August 2026 to February 2027.

Salary range: $67.51 - $74.14 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Role specific expectations

  • Provide high-quality care to neurosurgical inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of senior clinicians.
  • Participate in neurosurgical theatres, ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and emergency care.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, teaching, and research within the department.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
  • The appointee will be required to participate/work rostered and un-rostered overtime, late/evening/night shifts, weekends and public holidays.

About you

  • Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions, with the Medical Board of Queensland. In approved circumstances, eligibility for registration, with conditions, as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Queensland which must be produced at the commencement of employment.
  • Standard Pathway will be considered if you are not from a country of competent authority, however, AMC1/AMC2 and the English exam will be a mandatory requirement prior to applying. Please refer to the APRHA website for more information.
