Mater Hospital Springfield and the department of anaesthesia are seeking applications for Staff Anaesthetists to join us in a full time or part time, maximum term appointment. Start date negotiable, immediate commencement welcomed. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it is set to care for over 200,000 patients annually, including a predicted 1,700 births.
The successful applicants will be expected to fulfil all the clinical and clinical support activities including participation in the after-hours on-call roster for obstetric and emergency anaesthesia requirements at the facility. Demonstrated high levels of skill and recent practice in obstetrics and a broad range of adult anaesthesia are mandatory. Experience and skill in paediatric anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and acute pain management are desirable, as are experience and skill in education, research and quality assurance activities.

What you will be doing
- Provide specialist anaesthetic services
- Undertake clinical support activities which arise from this position, and those delegated by the Director of Anaesthesia
- Supervise junior medical staff where applicable
- Participate in teaching on an informal and formal basis
- Participate in on-going professional development, continuous improvement programs and clinical risk management
About you
- Registrable as a Specialist in Anaesthesia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency
- Current knowledge and skills relevant to the broad range of elective and emergency adult anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, and acute pain management services required for the clinical workload of the department
- Current knowledge and skills relevant to paediatric anaesthesia desirable – or willing to achieve skills relevant to paediatric anaesthesia.
- Current knowledge and recent experience and skill in Obstetric Anaesthesia services is mandatory
- Recent or current subspecialty experience in areas such as oncological, upper gastrointestinal, orthopaedic, general surgical, ophthalmologic and urology surgery is highly desirable
