About the role

Mater Mothers Hospital is a premier women’s health facility and Queensland’s largest maternity care provider, serving as a major referral centre for complex maternal and fetal cases. Co-located with the Queensland Children’s Hospital, our busy Maternal Fetal Medicine service compliments the maternity service, providing women, access to expert multidisciplinary care across all high-risk care domains including tertiary level prenatal ultrasound and diagnosis, fetal therapy, intrapartum care, genetics and Obstetric Medicine. We are offering a 12-month position for two talented Fellows to join our service from 1st February, 2027.

As the major tertiary referral centre for the State of Queensland, the Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine provides more than 20,000 episodes of care per year and is at the forefront of fetal therapy options in Australia and New Zealand. Staffed by seven Consultants, two Fellows, Sonographers, Midwives, and an administrative team, the unit also works closely with a multi-disciplinary team of perinatal specialists to offer a full range of prenatal screening, diagnostics and fetal therapy options and has developed major international and national collaborative links. MFM staff work closely with Neonatal Specialists servicing one of the largest Neonatal Intensive Care facilities in Australia.

The roles provide training and support for both an early career MFM Fellow (Yrs 1-2) and a senior MFM senior Fellow (Yr 3+) transitioning to independent Subspecialty practice. Both positions are structured to maximise training within a team structure of care and supported by experienced senior colleagues.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The role will see you contribute to a high quality, multidisciplinary team-based clinical MFM service appropriate to the level of training and experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics. You will work collaboratively with health professionals both within the service and outside the organisation to help us deliver consistent, evidence-based, high-value health care, whilst undertaking RANZCOG-accredited MFM training and research within the Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine and Mater Research, University of Qld. Honorary University of Queensland academic status is available upon application and there are multiple research and education opportunities.

This position offers excellent experience in tertiary level antenatal and intrapartum care in the largest maternity hospital in Australia. The role involves working collaboratively with medical, midwifery and allied-health colleagues

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the teaching of Registrars, Residents and students, and to be actively involved in the unit’s education, audit, risk management, administrative and research activities.
