Are you a dynamic Senior Administration Officer ready to make a lasting impact? We are currently seeking passionate and experienced Senior Administration Officers to join our team in our newly established emergency department. We have multiple roles available across Full-Time, Part-Time and Casual.
Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield which opened early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Working a variety of shifts across a 24/7 rotating roster, this role is critical to the smooth operation of Queensland's newest Emergency Department. You’ll play a key part in supporting clinical teams across triage, admissions and patient flow, ensuring patients are accurately clerked, billed correctly, and supported efficiently during their ED journey.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting ED operations across all major areas including triage, admissions and patient flow
Accurately clerking patients and ensuring timely admission, transfer and discharge processes
Managing Medicare and private health insurance details, including identifying Medicare-ineligible patients
Processing patient payments and liaising with Finance to facilitate billing and reconciliation
Providing front-of-house and ward-based administrative support within a 24/7 environment
Maintaining high standards of data quality, confidentiality and compliance
Working collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure full coverage of all rostered ED shifts
Contributing to orientation and training during a comprehensive onboarding period
About you
Ability to pick up shifts at short notice
Demonstrated experience in senior administration within a healthcare or hospital setting
Strong knowledge of patient admissions, billing, Medicare and private health insurance processes
The ability to work rotating shifts across a 24/7 roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays
High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience using health information systems and intermediate Microsoft Office skills
Excellent communication skills and a calm, professional approach under pressure
